The Borrego Springs Seniors Community Center has partnered with Meals on Wheels of San Diego County to provide delicious and healthy meals to qualified Seniors in the community at no charge.
The meals consist of frozen entrees that include two side dishes, plus fresh fruit and bread, and a choice of fruit juice or milk. Meals may be either delivered or picked up at the Center. Folks may get meals once a week.
Meal delivery is done on Thursdays by our amazing volunteers.
Folks can get 3 or 5 meals per week, and can apply for qualification by calling 760-767-3116, or emailing borregoseniorcenter@
This program is available to Seniors aged 60 and older who live in Borrego Springs and exhibits at least 2 limitations in Activities of Daily Living presented in this list.

Life is sweet
Life is sweet for San Diego senior Earl Deshazer six months after moving into his new affordable home at Levant Senior Cottages in Linda Vista.
Earl lives in one of 127-units designed to meet the needs of low-income seniors 55 and up, earning between 25 percent and 50 percent of the Area Median Income.
Independence
For many older adults, being independent and aging in their own home for as long as possible is a priority. Home is where they are comfortable, with familiar surroundings in a community they know.
But “aging in place” requires planning ahead and support. This can include help with health care, personal care, making meals, managing money, household chores, transportation and safety.
The County’s Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP) is a care management service for older adults, age 60 and older, who are eligible for Medi-Cal and at risk of being placed in a nursing facility.
MSSP care managers work with the client, family members and medical team to provide services designed to help the client remain independent at home.
One local senior says she wouldn’t have survived this long in her own home if it weren’t for MSSP.
